Restaurant, wine bar and wine shop WG Kitchen and Bar will open at The Banks on Saturday.
Owner Craig Decker said the new 6,500-square foot restaurant will have a similar look to the Bridgewater Falls outpost, which opened in November, and to The Wine Guy Bistro at Rookwood Pavilion. (The chain also has outposts in Pickerington, Gahanna and New Albany, Ohio.) It will seat 196 indoors, with space for 80 more on an outdoor patio during warmer months.
Decker said the name change, from The Wine Guy Bistro to WG Kitchen and Bar, is to put the emphasis on the food.
Speaking of which, Decker said he’s rolling out a few new menu items, including a lobster tower — a layered entree with risotto, fried wonton, shrimp ravioli, lobster and sweet pea puree — and bring back a few favorites, including the lamb chops. Back after a two-year hiatus, they’re marinated in balsamic vinegar and honey, served with a dried cherry demi-glaze and roasted redskin potatoes.
To start, hours will be 11:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 11:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday; Decker said he might extend them depending on the demands of the downtown crowd.
