Jefferson Social, new Mexican restaurant and bar, to open at The Banks

The owners of Jefferson Hall will open a new bar and restaurant this spring at The Banks riverfront district in downtown Cincinnati.

Banks developers announced Tuesday that Jefferson Social will open in April at the corner of Freedom Way and Walnut Street.

The eatery, which will occupy 4,040 square feet, will feature “Mexican street food.”

Jefferson Social will have seating for small and large groups, along with party-friendly communal tables. Also, it will have a bar stocked with more than 25 bourbons and 16 taps rotating domestic and craft beers.

“Our focus will be on serving artisanal drinks with freshly squeezed juices and quality liquors, and serving tacos and nachos made with fresh ingredients,” said Tony Cafeo, founder and owner of Jefferson Social.

Cafeo also owns several other restaurant and bars in Cincinnati including Jefferson Hall at Newport on the Levee and the soon-to-open Incline Public House in Price Hill.

With this addition and the recent announcement of Jimmy John’s plans to locate at The Banks in spring, Phase 1A of The Banks project is now 91 percent leased, with only one space still available for occupancy, developers said.

Retail establishments that already have opened include The Holy Grail, Tin Roof, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Johnny Rockets, Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill, Orange Leaf, Crave and Mahogany’s.

Other businesses set to open soon are The Wine Guy Bar & Bistro, Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches and Yard House Restaurant.

Retail at The Banks has already brought more than 300 new jobs to the region and $600 million in investment, developers said.
