After a sneak preview last weekend, Jefferson Social at The Banks officially opened Thursday.
Operated by the owners of Jefferson Hall, which closed in late April, this new venture is a neighborhood bar serving Mexican street food. On the menu: a variety of tacos, including barbacoa (braised beef) with pico de gallo, cilantro and cotija; beer-battered cod with napa cabbage and remoulade; spicy Mexican beer-braised pork with creamy chipotle slaw; and roasted vegetables with avocado crema and cotija. There are also salads and dry-rubbed wings.
At the bar, the emphasis will be on beer, especially local and craft varieties, plus bourbon and high-end tequila. Beer will flow from 12 frequently changing taps, and about 60 varieties will be available in bottles. Specialty drinks will include a signature house Bloody Mary and a house margarita with freshly made sour mix.
“We’re trying to be the neighborhood bar for The Banks,” said manager Kris Keefe who, like many of the employees, came from Jefferson Hall.
Though it won’t have Jefferson Hall’s live music, four TVs will show music videos and sporting events, and they might have the occasional DJ for a special event, Keefe said.
Hours will be 11 a.m.-2 a.m. daily. 101 E. Freedom Way, Downtown. 513-721-9008; www.facebook.com/jeffsoc.
