Cincinnati-based Prus Construction won a $4.1 million contract to reconstruct Freedom Way from Rosa Parks Street to Walnut Street and make other pedestrian improvements near the Banks development.
Prus’ bid was below the county’s estimate of a $5 million project cost. The firm will also:
- Make pedestrian improvements on Second Street
- Install additional traffic and garage cameras
- Remove Race Street south of Freedom Way
- Build a traffic circle at the entrance to the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge
“We are proud to be selected for this public infrastructure work at The Banks,” Michael Prus, vice president of the construction company, said. “This new 24/7 neighborhood is alive and growing; the addition of these improvements for pedestrians and vehicular traffic will only enhance the live, work and play experience on Cincinnati’s Riverfront.”
The work will begin immediately and be completed in June 2014.
