The newest addition at The Banks is now open for business.
“I was here for keg day, and it was so amazing to watch 250 kegs get rolled in, but I couldn’t come inside. So, it was great to know I was coming back today to sit down, enjoy a beer I’ve never had before,” said Carla-Gessel Streeter, Yard House first-timer.
The newest location of Yard House is situated in the heart of The Banks, offering guests a fun atmosphere with nearly 200 beers. But, Friday’s ribbon cutting isn’t just about a new business, it’s about a community. That starts with a $10,000 donation to the Freestore Foodbank.
“We think it’s a wonderful way, not only to partner with a food bank, but also with the city and let them know we’re not only here to receive guests, but we’re here to give back to the community that’s welcomed us,” said Drew Minervino, director of operations at Yard House.
Development at The Banks has taken off since the groundbreaking in 2008, and leaders with Downtown Cincinnati, Inc. would like to see that continue for the city.
“For the city to be successful, the heart, the core had to be successful, and you’re starting to see it now. You’re starting to see as downtown is developing, the progress at Walnut Hills, progress in Price Hill, progress in Over-the-Rhine,” said David Ginsburg, President & CEO of DCI.
As Yard House awaits more guests, they’ve hired hundreds of local workers, as well.
“This Yard House, we’ve hired over 225 team members. It’s nice to be a part of the community, not just from a business standpoint, but one that can create jobs,” added Minervino.
One line overheard many times Friday is that it’s a “great day for downtown.” Development leaders couldn’t agree more.
“There’s lot of things you can do. There’s sports, arts, culture, entertainment, the riverfront. There is no place else to be but downtown,” added Ginsburg.
On top of Friday’s donation to the Freestore Foodbank, Yard House has a way for the customer to give back, too. They can round up your credit card check to the next dollar, and donate the extra cash.
Invited guests can check out Yard House Saturday from 5-8 p.m., with doors opening to the public at 8 p.m.
The doors open for good Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
