The Banks continues to get love from out-of-towners. Its latest accolades come for its parking garages.
The second phase Central Riverfront Garage won the award of excellence Best Design of a Parking Facility for More than 800 Spaces.
“Sustainability and durability provisions include recycled demolished materials, HOV spaces, variable-speed fans and electronic payment incentives,” according to a release from the International Parking Institute. “The garage plays a vital role in this vibrant new downtown development on the banks of the Ohio River.”
Particularly notable is that the garage is floodable so the Ohio River’s floodplain is preserved, John Deatrick, project executive for the Banks, told Hamilton County commissioners.
“We don’t drown Covington with our project,” Deatrick said.
