The Banks, Downtown street closures begin today

Construction of the newest edition to Cincinnati’s growing riverfront will lead to some road and sidewalk closures that begin today, FOX19 reports.

At 9 a.m. today, construction of a new pedestrian bridge will close Pete Rose Way between Broadway and Johnny Bench Way for one week. The center lanes and north sidewalk of that area will be closed until early August.

In addition, the area between Third Street and Pete Rose Way will be limited to one lane of traffic and the sidewalk leading to Great American Ball Park will be closed for four weeks.

The southbound curb lane on Freedom Way may also be closed on Monday and Tuesday for repair work.

The closures were planned for July because the Cincinnati Reds are only in town for one weekend during the construction, city officials said.
