Pizzeria to join restaurant lineup at The Banks

Fast-growing craft pizza and beer eatery Pies & Pints plans to open a location at The Banks this summer, a development representative said Wednesday.

The Banks will be home to the brand’s 11th location and its first in Cincinnati. Pies & Pints will locate in the block of Second and Rosa Parks streets that features retail space under the Radius apartments and General Electric Co.’s U.S. Global Operations Center. It would join Taste of Belgium as the second restaurant to join the new phase of development at the mixed-use riverfront destination.

The nearly 300-unit Radius luxury apartments will have a grand opening in April and the GE building is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2016.

Pies & Pints opened in November at the Liberty Center mixed-use development in Liberty Township. The restaurant chain launched in Fayetteville, West Virginia, and provides more than 30 craft beers, a menu of gourmet pizzas, appetizers, salads, sandwiches and desserts.

“Pies & Pints is a perfect addition to The Banks,” said Dan McCarthy, project executive for Carter, in a statement. Carter is The Banks’ master developer. “Gourmet pizza is a fast growing segment and Cincinnati’s craft beer industry is exploding. Put those trends together with the great energy we already have at The Banks and you get an ideal match.”

Earlier this year, The Banks’ development team announced The Stretch, an entertainment venue concept from Four Entertainment Group; Tervis, a drinkware retailer; and BurgerFi, a gourmet burger restaurant, will locate at The Banks. The three establishments will take spots vacated by businesses in the first phase of development between Walnut Street and Joe Nuxhall Way.

“There is so much positive momentum happening at The Banks right now and we know our new location will flourish here,” said Rob Lindeman, co-owner of Pies & Pints.

Pies & Pints expects The Banks restaurant to operate from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays; 11 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays; and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays.
